The Eroles Project - Artist/Activist residency in Spain

Published by Mona Rathsman, UNIDO & The Eroles Project - Evaluation Consultant/ Co-founder and faciliator

Dear TOY family!

Monique suggested I share this with you. Together with some friends from my master's degree at Schumacher College, we've gotten the amazing opportunity to turn a beautiful house in Eroles, Spain, into a artist/activist residency over the summer. We want to create a space where we can experiment and explore how creativity can inform social movements, climate action in particular. Towards the end, in August, we'll be holding a two-week "creative camp" to harvest our findings and create something specifically for COP21 in Paris, December 2015.

If this sounds interesting to you, please read more on our website! We still have spaces left.  www.erolesproject.org

PS. Don't shy away if you don't consider yourself an artist or an activist (I am neither!), we're looking for all kinds of people with all types of passions and interests :)

Lots of love and TOY,
Mona

@Laura! Sorry for the late reply. It was a couple of friends who got the idea when they visited the house in October, after having done a course at Eco Dharma, a center close by in the Pyrenees.. There is space for 12 people, some will stay for a month or so, some just for a week or two. What we will exactly be doing is not fixed. We want to create a space for true collaboration, and this involves holding things open for people to express their interests. So each week's activities will be largely shaped by the collaborators here at that time, the activities discussed on the Monday morning. But there have been many suggestions; like theatre & activism work, or creating a group photography project etc. A lot of time will be spent doing work in the garden and the house, as living in community is an important part of the learning experience, and also because we want to grow as much our own food as possible. =) Here is our first blog post if you want to read more! http://www.erolesproject.org/#!Eroles-Arriving/c1zje/1

Hi mona! Sounds interesting - how did you come up with such a great idea? How many of you are going and what exactly are you planning to do? Thanks :)

We have applied for funding ...

We have applied for funding from the company LUSH, and will be getting a response soon! Otherwise we are very fortunate to not have to pay rent for the house, should the funding not go through. In that case participants will pay €75/week to cover food and other basic costs.
