i guess, you never really can ...

i guess, you never really can tell for anyone else. and your intent, your true attitutude, thru you, not by you.. is making the difference. and it has to be newly defined every time. to my understanding its much more about attitude than action. all actions can be mistaken. they are meaningless by themselves, they are only the offsprings of the attitude. and you never really can decide about another's attitude. only yours.

... one of those questions ...

... one of those questions that seduce to be answered... So many things to say about wisdom - and still not being sure at all. How to chose the spicy and significant attributes for wisdom as a wise person is a big package not to reveal. What comes out to my mind TODAY (it will change for sure), a wise person is somebody who is sincere and true to himself/herself. Therefore authentic. Somebody who never stops reflecting about his/her and others' actions, thoughts. Who is aware, awake, living in the here and now (and then and beyond as well). Capable of self-irony. A caring person. Among the ones I have met and consider to be wise, besides the above mentioned observations I made, they all had something very humble about themselves. Therefore easy to see them as so-called role-models...

Hi Joanna, your comment makes me think that perhaps the older we get the harder it is to be wise. Is it always unwise to act on impulse if that is the authentic sum of your instinct?

An old Indian Chief sat in ...

An old Indian Chief sat in his hut on the reservations, smoking a Ceremonial Pipe and eying two U.S. Government officials sent to interview him. "Chief Two Eagles" asked one official, "You have observed the white man for 90 years. You've seen his wars and his technological advances. You've seen his progress, and the damage he's done." The Chief nodded in agreement. The Official continued, "Considering all these events, in your opinion, where did the white man go wrong?" The Chief stared at the Government Officials for over a minute and then calmly replied, "When white man found this land, Indians were running it." "No taxes." "No debt." "Plenty buffalo." "Plenty beaver." "Women did all the work." "Medicine man free." "Indian man spent all day hunting and fishing." "All night having fun with squaws." Then Chief leaned back and smiled, "Only white man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that."
